When the problem is believed to be a structural defect, the next step is to survey the drains to assess the condition and the extent of the problem.
Pre-House Purchase Surveys
Drains are not the obvious first choice of things to look at when considering purchasing a property. Out of sight, out of mind. A surveyor will be able to provide a rough idea as to the construction and condition of the drains, but this should not be relied upon solely. A drainage survey is the only way to know exactly what is going on in the drains. It highlights structural defects and the extent to which they may cause problems. In turn, this can influence your decision to purchase a property and may end up saving you money. Alternatively it may put your mind at rest knowing that the drains are working correctly.
We will happily arrange the survey with the current vendors or estate agents on your behalf.
A Question of Time?
We aim to have your survey completed within three working days of your call. We will be able to provide you with a brief overview of the findings the following day, either verbally, by email or fax. The full report will be sent to you via email. If you wish to have a hard copy of the report there will be a small charge of £5 + VAT.
The Method
A CCTV Survey involves inserting a small camera into the drain which is then pushed through the length of pipe. The camera is linked to a monitor to enable the surveyor to examine the condition of the drain. The meter-reading on the camera provides an accurate measurement of not only the length but also the exact position of any defects found. The footage is recorded and a video is produced.
No-One Home?
Providing the manholes are accessible (I.e. no locked gates) and you are happy for us to be on the property, we do not need access inside the house.
